HMD Global today announced the Nokia 5.1 Plus along with the Nokia 6.1 Plus in India. It is Android One smartphone, similar to the other Nokia phones. It comes with a 5.86-inch HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio 2.5D curved glass display with 84% screen-to-body ratio. Nokia X5 is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 12nm chipset with 3GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage.

Vivo X23 teased with 91.2% screen-to-body ratio, in-display fingerprint sensor and ‘super wide angle’ lens

We already know that Vivo is expected to launch the X23 smartphone in China. Today the company officially released the images of the smartphone. The teaser shows off its 91.2% screen-to-body ratio display with teardrop design similar to OPPO R17 and F9/F9 Pro. It also uses an improved fourth-generation in-display fingerprint sensor.

The company also said that it will have an AI dual rear cameras. One camers will have super wide-angle lens, which seem similar to the one in the LG smartphones. It has 3D aurora finish on the back and also reveals a 3.5mm audio jack on the top.

The company has started taking registrations for the smartphone from today, August 20 lasts till September 5th. So it could be announced sometime in early September. We get to know more details about the smartphone in the coming weeks.

Walmart completed acquisition of 77% stake in Flipkart for $16 billion

Walmart Inc. and Flipkart Group today announced that the acquisition process has now been completed, made Walmart the largest shareholder in the Flipkart Group. Walmart had announced in May that it is acquiring 77% stake in Flipkart for $16 billion.

Flipkart’s existing management will continue to lead the business. Tencent Holdings Ltd. and Tiger Global Management LLC will remain represented on the Flipkart board, in addition to independent board members, and will be joined by new members from Walmart. Flipkart’s financials will be reported as part of Walmart’s International business segment.

With the completion of the investment, Walmart now holds approximately 77 percent of Flipkart. The remainder of the business is held by other shareholders, including Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal, Tencent, Tiger Global and Microsoft Corp.

Walmart’s investment includes $2 billion of new equity funding to help accelerate the growth of the Flipkart business. Both companies will retain their unique brands and operating structures in India.

Sony confirms Android 9.0 Pie update for range of Xperia smartphones

After a report, Sony has officially confirmed the list of its smartphones to get Android 9.0 (Pie) update. The list includes its flagship smartphones. The first generation Xperia X and XZ series are not in the list except to the XZ Premium.

After Google Pixel smartphones and Essential Phone PH-1, HTC and Motorola confirmed the list of smartphones that will get the Android Pie update. OnePlus even said that its 2 years old OnePlus 3 and 3T will get the update.

OPPO has confirmed to introduce the R17 at an event in Shanghai on August 23rd. It will come with a 6.4-inch Full HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio display with a notch and 91.5% screen-to-body ratio along with Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection. OPPO R17 will come with 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon SoC, will likely be the recently announced Snapdragon 670.

It will come with an in-display fingerprint sensor that can unlock the phone just in 0.41 seconds. It has dual-rear cameras along with a 25MP AI front camera and packs with a 3500mAh battery with VOOC Flash charge fast charging.

Motorola confirms Android 9.0 Pie update for range of smartphones

On August 7th, Android released its latest version dubbed Android 9 Pie. As of now, only the Essential Phone has got the Android 9.0 Pie Apart from the Pixels. Google also said that it is working with several OEMs to roll out the update.

Now Motorola has confirmed Pie update for its smartphones, including the Moto X4 that was introduced running on Android 7.1 (Nougat). The latest Moto Z3 series, Z2 series and the Moto G6 series are getting the update. The Moto Z, G5 and G5S series are not getting the update including this year’s Moto E5 series.

Motorola P30 with notched display, dual cameras and face unlock announced

Motorola just announced the P30 which happens to be the company’s first smartphone to get notch display. The company announced the P30 along with the Moto Z3 and Moto E5 Plus at an event in China. However the Moto Z3 and Moto E5 Plus have already been announced outside of China, it’s the P30, highlight of the show.

The Moto P30’s design looks quite inspired by the iPhone X. It has pretty wide notch on the front and a vertical dual rear camera setup on the ceramic back. The device sports a 6.2-inch Full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by a Snapdragon 636 Octa-Core chipset along with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage variant.

It has a 16MP camera with f/1.8 aperture along with a 5MP secondary camera with f/2.0 aperture, AI portrait mode, scene recognition, AR mode and LED flash. On the front it has a 12MP front-facing camera with f/1.9 aperture and LED flash.

The P30 also houses Face Unlock along with a fingerprint sensor on the back in the iconic Moto logo. The P30 also gets a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top and curved edges all around. It runs on Android 8.1 powered by Google’s Android one project.

Motorola said that the P30 comes with nano coating that makes it water resistant. There’s also an AI-powered graphics acceleration for smoother gaming performance.
