Google confirms Android 9.0 ‘P’ as Pie; Stable update released for Pixel smartphones, Essential Phone

Finally Google has confirmed that Android 9.0 ‘P’ will be called Pie. It has also released final stable update for Pixel smartphones. The update can be downloaded from Android developer website here . It also started rolling out OTA update for those who have signed up for beta program. The Essential Phones will get the update, just after the Pixel phones.

The Android 9.0 update also includes Android security patch for August, 2018. Google has also released August security update for Pixel C, Nexus 5X and 6P that are still based on Android 8.1 Oreo. Android-Pie

Android P includes Adaptive Battery that uses machine learning to prioritize system resources for the apps, App Actions that helps you raise the visibility of your app and help drive engagement using machine learning, and Slices are a new way to surface rich, templated content in places like Google Search and Assistant.

Google said that other devices participated in the Beta Program including, Sony Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S, Nokia 7 Plus, OPPO R15 Pro, Vivo X21 / X21UD and OnePlus 6, as well as all qualifying Android One devices, will receive this update by the end of this fall. It also said that it is also working with a number of other partners to launch or upgrade devices to Android 9 this year.
