Samsung has announced the Galaxy Watch Active which comes with more sporty new design that is thin, light and versatile. Samsung says that it combines the best of the Galaxy heritage with improved fitness and wellbeing features.
The Galaxy Watch Active can monitor blood pressure. Users will have to download My BP Lab app which will be available starting March 15th. The app is jointly developed with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The Galaxy Watch Active monitor blood pressure and keep better track of physical health every day. It also helps users to keep their stress levels in check through breathing exercises to help them stay balanced, focused and guided towards long-term health.
It packs a 1.1-inch (360 x 360) Full Color AOD with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The smartwatch measures 39.5 x 39.5 x 10.5mm and weighs 25g. It is powered by the Exynos 9110 Dual-core 1.15 GHz with 768MB RAM and 4GB Internal Memory. It has 5ATM + IP68 water resistance and is MIL-STD-810G certified for durability.
It runs on Tizen-based Wearable OS 4.0. Connectivity features include Bluetooth 4.2, Wi-Fi b/g/n, NFC, A-GPS/Glonass. It has a 230mAh battery on board. The Galaxy Watch Active is compatible with Android and iOS and offers indoor/outdoor activity tracking.
It also features popular third-party apps—including Under Armour, Spotify, and Strava. You can use your voice to control Galaxy Watch Active with Bixby’s voice capabilities that allow you to make calls or send messages without ever picking up your phone.
The Galaxy Watch Active comes in Silver, Black, Rose Gold and Sea Green colors. It is priced at $199.99 (INR 14,200 approx). It will be available in the US and several countries starting March 8, 2019. Consumers who pre-order Galaxy Watch Active starting February 21 through March 7, 2019, will receive a free Wireless Charging Pad.
